Classic Recipe No. 12 —

Negroni

  • 1 oz gin
  • 1 oz Campari
  • 1 oz sweet vermouth
  • 1 orange twist

In a mixing glass stir all ingredients except the orange twist over ice. This drink can be served up in a chilled cocktail glass or on the rocks in an old-fashioned glass. The garnish also can be a fresh orange twist or try flaming an orange peel over the cocktail.

The classic recipe calls for equal parts. I’ve also found that this ratio works well too.

  • 2 oz gin
  • 3/4 oz sweet vermouth
  • 3/4 oz Campari

2 Notes on Negroni

  1. One of the ingredients I consider essential to a good Negronin is a dash of orange bitters. It helps to blend the flavors well.
