Justice For All

Jus­tice For All is a cock­tail I was com­mis­sioned to cre­ate and serve for a Baltimore/DC adver­tis­ing fir­m’s client par­ty. This recipe is a twist on the clas­sic Side­car. I ramped up the fla­vor pro­file and added my own per­son­al touch with a home­made hon­ey syrup that fea­tures notes of chamomile, clove and black pep­per­corn. To bal­ance the addi­tion­al sweet­ness I also includ­ed a bit­ter­ing-agent in Mon­tene­gro Amaro. Side Note: Wash­ing­ton D.C.‘s mot­to is “Jus­tice For All”, so it seemed …

Coffee Cocktail

1 1/2 oz brandy 1 1/2 oz ruby port one whole egg 1/4 oz sim­ple syrup (I like to use cin­na­mon sim­ple syrup) Gar­nish with grat­ed nut­meg Add all ingre­di­ents in a mix­ing glass. I use a hand­held frother to incor­po­rate the egg, or you could use the dry shake method. Then add ice and shake. Strain into a wine glass. Gar­nish with grat­ed nut­meg.

Vieux Carré

1 oz Cognac 1 oz rye whiskey 1 oz sweet ver­mouth 1/4 oz Bene­dic­tine 1 dash of Pey­chaud’s bit­ters 1 dash of Angos­tu­ra bit­ters 1 lemon twist Stir all ingre­di­ents except the lemon twist over ice and strain into a chilled cock­tail glass. Gar­nish with a lemon twist.

Jack O’ Lantern

¾ oz Brandy ¾ oz Cap­tain Mor­gan Rum ½ oz Grand Marnier 4 bar spoons of pump­kin puree ½ fall sim­ple syrup 1 egg white Gar­nish with grat­ed nut­meg Add all ingre­di­ents in a mix­ing glass, except the nut­meg. Dry shake or use a hand frother to incor­po­rate the egg white. Add ice and shake. Dou­ble strain into a chilled cock­tail glass and gar­nish with grat­ed nut­meg.
