Original Recipe No. 91 —

Alligator Swing

If you’ve been to our cocktail event the Libation Lounge you’ve probably had the Alligator Swing. It’s a standard on our menu because our patrons love it. It’s the honeydew melon juice that makes this summer cocktail a hit. In the 40’s, “alligator” was slang for swing fans and dancers so it seemed like a fitting name for a green Post Prohibition cocktail. There’s also a song called the Alligator Swing from 1944. It’s a nice pairing.

  • 1 1/2 oz gin
  • 1/2 oz cucumber juice
  • 1/2 oz honeydew melon juice
  • 1/4 oz lemon juice
  • 1/4 oz green Chartreuse
  • 1/4 oz rosemary simple syrup

Shake with ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Garnish with a cucumber slice.
